Pamela Maria De La Luz
Founder and CEO – “The Tequila Lady”
After I studied Fine Arts in Bellas Artes Institute of Mexico City, I came to Los Angeles. Once there, I started to work at one of the largest liquor chains. I was excited to be learning all about tequila as well as promoting the tradition and heritage of my culture. I quickly became a tequila expert as I researched the process of making tequila and evaluated the taste as I tried every bottle I could get my hands on. I then sold the tequilas that I liked the most, and guess what, other people liked them as well! I’ve had the honor and privilege of meeting with many of the key tequila personalities in the industry. I felt at home with them as they also appreciated and had the same passion for tequila as I did. All of these factors combined over the past 20 years led me to become one of the top sellers of tequila in Los Angeles and me being referred to as The Tequila Lady.
When I first started in the tequila industry, 20 years ago, almost all tequilas were pure, clean and free of additives with a slow natural purification process that gave tequila its unique and special taste. That is what my friends, family, clients and even myself love about tequila. However, recently, tequila seems to be mostly mass produced, has tons of additives and commercialized/exploited by celebrities for the purpose of making money. With this change in the industry, there is a new generation of people that have no idea how tequila is supposed to taste!
